Whistleblowing – Reporting misconduct

Bergen Havn uses MittVarsel.no as its whistleblowing portal – a secure, anonymous or identified solution for reporting misconduct, both internally and externally.

Who can report

  • Employees, including temporary staff, hired personnel and recruits through staffing agencies.
  • External parties, such as suppliers, business partners and members of the public.

Everyone has the right to report misconduct they are aware of.

What can be reported

  • Illegal or unethical conditions
  • Danger to life, health, the environment or safety
  • Corruption, financial crime, abuse of authority
  • Breaches of privacy, health and safety, bullying, harassment or discrimination

Reporting by name or anonymously

  • Identified: Register your name and email address, and receive dialogue and feedback.
  • Anonymous: You will receive a username and password (by email or SMS), and you can follow the case and communicate without being identified.

How the portal works

  • Choose whether you want to report anonymously or by name.
  • Fill in details: what, who, when, where, and any documents.
  • If you report anonymously, you will receive a user account for follow-up.
  • The case handler will confirm receipt, and you can follow the steps through the portal.

Case handling and follow-up

  • Receipt: You will receive confirmation and user information immediately or within a short time.
  • Processing: Internal investigation, possible dialogue and documentation of the process.

Feedback: Updates and decisions are provided through the portal, regardless of whether you report anonymously.

Confidentiality and data protection

All information is encrypted, and only authorised case handlers have access. GDPR is complied with, and tracing of an anonymous whistleblower is not possible.

Legal protection against retaliation

Whistleblowers have full legal protection in accordance with Chapter 2 A of the Norwegian Working Environment Act. Any form of retaliation is prohibited, and compensation may be claimed in the event of a breach.

Approval and use

By using the MittVarsel portal, you consent to Bergen Havn administering and processing the report in accordance with applicable legislation and internal procedures.
