Port of Bergen offers reception of ship-generated waste in the harbor.

Most quay facilities have designated waste containers for sorted combustible ship-generated waste.

Smaller quantities of hazardous waste can be delivered to our Environmental Stations at Skolten (opens in new window) and Jekteviken (opens in new window). Vessels must contact us to receive a PIN code for padlocks on the waste containers.

The port's waste containers and environmental stations can be used by all vessels except for cruise ships, scheduled passenger vessels, and vessels with larger quantities for delivery.

These vessels must directly order their own waste container from a waste management company approved by Bergen Port. When using waste bags, they must be transparent, which applies to the delivery of all types of waste.

Port of Bergen has installed reception stations for "graywater" and "blackwater" at Festningskaien (opens in new window), Skolten South (opens in new window), Skolten North, (opens in new window)and Bontelabo. (opens in new window) The facility is self-service and can be used by all ships calling at Bergen Port, subject to agreement with the port.

It is allowed under certain conditions.

Cleaning of ship hulls can only be performed by certified and approved cleaning companies that operate in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and are approved by the Port of Bergen.
